April 2016

Fifty thousand lattes

We entered our fifth year of trading this week. We reckon we've made and served around fifty thousand coffees since we opened in April 2012. Two years before that we started the process of buying and converting the Old School into the coffee shop and our home. We have learned a lot in that time. We have met and chatted with lots of customers and enjoyed working with and getting to know our young staff and local suppliers. Yesterday a new customer visited from Sleights - the next village along the valley, about a mile and a half away- she loved the place but hadn't had a clue we were here. She wrote in our visitors book that she'll tell her friends and be back soon.

Emily made this display for Easter. Included in it are some woolly eggs we have for sale. They are knitted by members of the Commondale wool workshop. All proceeds from their sale go to the Commondale Farm project. It provides work and support for people with a range of disabilities.

Spring is here. It has still been cold enough to light the log burner on most days but lovely to be able to sit out in the sunshine with a coffee.

Here we record highlights from our day to day activity
